says to ALL: Word had come that a merchant ship had arrived with various cargo, food mostly, and among that, several sacks of flour for the bakery. The creations of the bakery would be very diverse, and often unusual in the eyes of someone like me who was used to basic food, but there was of course basic material to start it all, apart from more sophisticated ingredients. And one of the most basic things, was flour, which was used in large quantities.
So I went on my way to collect more of that. It had apparently all been paid for and set apart, so I just needed to transport it.

At the docks where stone, timber and barrels of fish and salt are stored
says to ALL: I was on my way to the harbor to find the goods to be delivered. I'd have to make some inquiries perhaps.... I wasn't too familiar with this part of the City. There were some people about, but not too many.... the streets were still filled with snow, and there was a steady and chilly breeze from the north. Considering that, it would be quite possible that the ship had already sailed, in which case I'd probably find the cargo in one of the warehouses.

At the docks where stone, timber and barrels of fish and salt are stored
says to ALL: The docks themselves, they brought back memories.... memories of happier times, when I was free, and life seemed lighter in many ways. Of course, back then, there would have been concerns as well, but standing here now, they seemed marginal, if they could even be remembered. But there's no undoing the past, there's only the present that exists today, and the future of which I know nothing and seem to have little grip on.
These docks seemed quieter.... an inland port, and of course it's winter. I was looking around, somewhat at a loss. There was no obvious place to go, no ship that would obviously have supplied what I came for....

"Get over here, on the double! No lazing about, boy! There's work to be done. Here are four sacks of fine flour that need to go to the bakery, and they're not going to walk there themselves!"

- Docks -
At one of the various warehouses along the docks
says to ALL: With a startled "Yes, Master!" I rushed over to the warehouse where Master Jarvis was standing in the doorway. It was full of all sorts of trade goods, mainly large and bulky stuf: barrels, crates, sacks. I grabbed one of the sack indicated with both hands, and placed it on my shoulder. It was quite heavy, maybe as much as two weight, or at least, it felt like that.

says to ALL: Slowly and carefully, not wanting to trip, I made my way back into the city, balancing the sack on both shoulders, making sure not to trip. From behind, littkle could be seen of my head - it looked like it had been completely replaced with the flour sack.

A bustling bakery filled with fanciful delights, where the sweet scents are matched only by the sweet smile of the proprietress.
says to ALL: Reaching the bakery at last, I cautiously pressed one foot against the back door, to fortunately find it not locked. Inside, after getting used to the reduced light for a few ihn, I put the sack in one of the corners. Good... there will be room for more here. I'm not quite sure whether this is where they;re supposed to go, but if not, someone will tell me, no doubt.

large brick ovens line the wall with a work table the length of the room with various candy molds and cake in various stages of decorating, on other tables are dough set to rising as the smells of all the baking just waft through the air
says to ALL: After about an ahn, I had finally carried all four sacks towards the bakery and into the storage where they would be readily within reach from the kitchen. And I was thinking that there should be a better way to do this.... I should find a sleigh, or build one.
Anyway, for now, I need a bath.

says to ALL: I returned to the House of Chains, to use the bath that I knew from earlier. The lifting and dragging of the heavy sacks had made me all sweaty, though I wasn't really tired.

says to ALL: I took off my clothes, which were also not very clean anymore. Maybe I could just change them for a fresh set, as before? I would have dealt with it myself in the forest, but here, there were just too many things I didn't know. Like, this large bath room.... it was quite luxurious, with bath of various temperatures, and towels, and seats, and smaller side rooms. And many items that looked quite different from the simple bar of soap that I would have much preferred.
Anyway, after a while I just sat down in one of the baths that seemed suitable. Water was still water, and a brush was still a brush, after all.

says to ALL: When I was done, having stepped out of the bath and dried myself, I looked around, exploring the room a little bit more. The room wasn't too damp, despite all the water. I entered a smaller room to the side, with a small table with various jars and flasks no doubt containing substances unfamiliar to me. And there was a mirror.

says to ALL: I hadn't seen a mirror in years. It just wasn't something that had existed in my environment. There had been the occasional reflection of myself in the water, but nothing as clear and sharp as a mirror in a well-lit room. I stepped closer.... and for the first time, could see myself as others would see me. A shining steel collar around my neck, with fine lettering. I couldn't read it, never having learned the Gorean alphabet.... but I knew what it would say. It would mark me as property, as the legal property of my Mistress. And it was no because She had defeated me in combat or anything like that, but simply because She had bought me. A Woman much smaller than I was, fully owned me by the laws of Gor, and there was nothing I could do about it. Gorean steel of the best quality.... marked me as a slave.
