Approaching the city aboard a ship
says to ALL: The City of Laura was my destination, and I was still apprehensive of my abrupt plans, but they felt totally justified. My time in Port Kar had turned very sour, and Minus had been hands downt he most cliquish unwelcoming place I'd ever visited. Perhaps this one would be better. I had a mind of business in these endeavors, seeking a new home for my shipyards. Wherever I settled would benefit vastly from having a ship wright in the town. It was amusing to me how many took such craft for granted. But scribes.. well scribes could find work all day. It was ironic. At any rate, I was on the waters of Thassa. I was in a serpent ship, my preferred ship for fast travel. This particular serpent was painted a rich green, so that it might hide on the waves. It was named The Hornet, since I used it to strike quickly on small ships. I was stalking one such ship just now.
The small ship was a raiding vessel, and was loaded with springals just for that purpose. The way we usually operated, was that The Hornet would dart in to disable the ship, then the roundship would come in its wake and collect the cargo. It was a strategy we had employed for years, because in addition to being a Shipwright of High Caste.. I was also a.. privateer. yes. Not a pirate.. Pirates were gauche. We began to close on our unsuspecting prey.

Approaching the city aboard a ship
says to ALL: By my steering, and orders, the tiny serpent ship would take a treacherous path to intercept the merchant roundship we'd been stalking for days now. They thought us gone, most likely, assumed their own safety. But we had gone around a small island, and navigated the rocky shoals with expert ease. This gave us time to ready our springals, and to meet with the other ship that would be signaled later. As expected, as we rounded the small island, the ship was anchored in the shallows, one smaller skiff being rowed to shore to scout for camping locations. It was all going to plan. I signaled the theleustes to begin his cadence, and now that it was too late for them to do anything, they would become aware of the ship descending upon them.
THe drum beat echoed, and the men chanted in time to it while they rode, this creating an ominous cacophony on the horizon. Horns blew on the roundship, and on the surface, the men scrambled to their arms. The small skiff started back, but I had one of the catapults send some clay pots of oil into the water near the thing, and then called out ARCHERRSS!!!!" and a wave of fiery arrows dotted the sky, and set the water ablaz, creating a wall of flame around the small skiff, cries of agony as men caught aflame inside echoing as they tried to bail. We continued towards the roundship.

says to ALL: And so it would begin. We began to duck and weave among the rocks, taking minimal hits from their springals and catapults. My shield bearers moved to cover the loaders with their shields, using tal tower shields that were double layered to defend against arrows and lances. We were a well oiled machine in comparison to the merchant ship that gave haphazard orders. Just now, they were taking in anchor, the order given to try to break away to open seas. But the wind was not cooperating at all, and worked against them. We rounded a rock, cutting diagonally across the wind, catching hal of it in our large singular sail. .. closing in ever nearer.. until finally, the white shield was put out on their crest. A cheer went up from my crew, and a signal horn was blown. The roundship would close in to trap the ship over the next ahn, and we'd take the ship into our posession, moving its cargo and slaves to the larger roudnship that already belonged to me. I strode aboard the smaller roundship, and with the Captain and his innermost crew in shackles on the deck, I'd stand before them to address them.

says to ALL: "Gentlemen! you have the privilege of being raided by a one Phryxus Coridian of Port Kar. That you put up your shield is advantageous to you all, since it gives you this one.. and ONLY chance to earn mercy. "
I paced back and forth along the line of men, and rested my hand on my saber at my right hip. Some just stared, others more angrily. One even spat, but all this went ignored as I continued with my arrogant speech.
"You have this one chance to retain your ship, work as you always have, but with one small difference. Each hand you will report to me. You will tell me of other ships youve seen that don't bear my fleet crest. You will find out where they are going. You will also give 5 percent of all your earnings to me for allowing you to stay in business. It is a simple arrangement. However, future mutiny will have any mutineers hanged, and taxes levied on the rest for the inconvenience.. so.. do we have a deal??"
This would be met with some cries of outrage, but the captain silenced the men and stood. He then shuffled over to me with his manackles and offered a hand. - "It is a deal, Karian." I took the hand and smirked, turning to head back to my ship. I had the chains taken off the crew, and so it would begin. Another ship added to my fleet.

says to ALL: Those dealings done, now all three ships would sail into Laura. We'd weed out those that wouldn't actually abide by my rules, and they would simply disappear. I led the way to Laura's docks, the two roundships in my wake at my left and right flanks. Upon reaching the shallows, we'd line up and toss anchor, and blow the necessary horns to alert the harbor Master of our presence. Thus would begin the mooring process, and I'd have the two rounds go first. I'd supplied each with ample coin to tend docking costs, and so.. my adventure in Laura would begin. I too would dock my ship now, and head ashore with the other 2 captains.
